*Just to try and set people straight on some myths surrounding the mobile phone recycling campaign.
Myths:
1. This is only for children with autism:
NO, anyone who is willing to put the effort into collecting phones can claim a reward. Don't forget, this is also a fundraiser for IAA.
2. I can only collect for one device:
NO, if you are willing to put in the work then you can collect for as many devices as you want. It is not being greedy, selfish etc etc...............remember the fundraising point above!
3. I have to be a member of the IAA to collect:
NO
4. The schools campaign is only open to special needs schools:
NO, all schools can take part.
5. The scheme is for iPads only:
NO, there are lots of devices on offer and parents can also collect for the items on the schools menu such as a Convertible Classmate PC.
6. Families cannot collect:
NO, families CAN collect and up to last Friday 463 families have gotten an iPad. See myth number 1.
7. Its probably too late to join in:
NO, this is running for at least another year with a mortgage draw arranged for Dec 2012.
8. All the phones must be gone by now:
NO, there are 2.2 million phones sold in Ireland every year. It is estimated that there are 15 million (yes, 15 million, not a typo) phones lying in drawers in homes!
I will add more as they are brought to my attention, I know they are out there!
